Broken V-force common problem?
« on: September 03, 2011, 11:35:34 AM »
today my vforce 2 reed broke and got wedged in the hole in the cage ..and the bike went booogggg.

is this a common problem with vforce? im guessing it is.

well at least its gonna be a free fix cause i have the stock cage at home. and i tossed the cheap vforce cause i didnt want to spend $80 on cheap carbon fiber reeds that will brake again in the same manner.

what would had happened if the petal had entered the engine?

Did you have them in the High tension or low tension setting?

Reed spacer?

how much time (hours, or years sesons etc on them)

Did a screw back out?    that is the issue V2 had...

You just happened across my #1 pet Peeve...   Blaming parts/MNF for your issue..

You were running reeds with unknown hours...    In a unknown stiffness setting

The cage was bent  (Okay I can deal with this one),  BUT  and missing a reed retaining screw... and you ran it?!      and are now Surprised when it lost a petal!?

Vforce makes some good stuff... some issues... but otherwise good stuff..

The V2 had some issues... but mostly on nitro applications... big backfires, etc...

no prob..

it wasnt a retainer screw . it was just the one of the screws that holds the block to the backing plate.

can you tell me what would have happend if the petal had hit the piston

Funny noises?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

It probably did hit the piston...

Reeds are normally just ingested and pass through..

wasnt even close to hitting it.

the petal almost broke off, it broke off on one side then got wedged sideways in the cage.

piston still looks new

my kx did the same bogging yesterday, except it wasn't the reeds it was the plug fouling... and when your in the mountains, theirs no place near to buy a new plug which meant no riding yesterday  it fired right up in the morning with the new sprocket about to go hit some trails rode it down the street then it just bogged and wouldn't start, had to push the d**n thing back with all my gear on and after cleaning the plug it would only run for about 10 seconds... and I thought my brother new how to mix gas!!!
