Continental Divide

  :-D ITS TIME!  :-D

Been talking about this one since I rode into my driveway from the Trans America trail
(Tennessee to Oregon... all in the dirt)..

Would have happend last year, but having a kid kind of ruined that..   (did 3800 miles through the sierras on my BMW though, not all bad)

I have been given the "GO AHEAD" from work, and the wife..

Plan on leaving middle to end of July..  be gone for a month and a half or more...

Starting at Mexico Boarder... Riding to Canada... then turning around... and riding back to Mexico boarder  ON ANOTHER ROUTE..
Never touch the same trail twice

Should be about 8700 miles or so (lots of fun detours).. 98% dirt

Would be hard to find race fuel the entire way Id think..

that and there is one day, that you need to be able to do 235miles on one tank of fuel... as there isnt any for that distance...

Hmmm wonder how the Kx would like 12,000 Feet??

Man it would be fun to take it though..

Nope... Probaly wont even cross in..  just put my foot and front tire on the boarder and call it good..

The kx will live at 12000 feet come ride with me & see. My concern would be will my hot 550cc live for 2500miles. The trans american highway is calling, Peru in particular. Thanks for the link Motorad, the stuff dreams are made of. I miss sleeping under the stars

planned to leave monday   obviously i didnt since im here...

been watching the weather and its HOT HOT HOT outside of california....

Watching the weather close... and going to plan on Mid September now..   should be neet as all the Tree's will be changing colors..

Fall will be nice with the colors, might get freak snow though. You'll be on the KTM lc4 right?

Yep Ill be on my 2002 KTM 640 Adventure..   Pops will be on his 2001 KTM 640 Enduro..

Will you guys be documenting the run with a camera or video or something?

  I mean how cool would it be to pass down a trip like that to the kids.  Maybe they'd retrace your routes and all.

I'd come with if i could fit a snorkel for the 'atlantic' part of the journey.and how do you jet for -30,000ft and sharks in your airbox?:-D

Still waiting for a report from a riding buddy and his brother who did this route in July.   They left around the 1st.    Good rider.  Took his KTM950 on this one.    I remember an email a few days before he left.  Trying to cut down on his total weight in the panniers.    Was afraid he would forget something vital though.
