KX 500 flywheel
« on: June 22, 2011, 02:31:02 AM »
I am the owner of a 93 KX 500, and I love that bike. I am asking if anyone has a stock flywheel they would be willing to part with?
When I bought the bike, it came with a oversized flywheel. I just want the bike to be back to stock....

first of all you can't get an oversized stock flywheel, not entirely true but for 93 it is, are you sure you don't have a weight on it? what makes you think its oversized? you will need to be careful, if the ignition is not stock a stock flywheel will not work. there were bascially 2 sizes of flywheel, and 89ish and older and an 89 ish and newer. my 89 had the small one but others have said they had the bigger flywheel.

you bike might be easier to ride with the large flywheel

There is some on eBay right now.
You can find them here:
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=kx500+fly+wheel&_sacat=0&_odkw=kx500+flywheel&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
I only see one from a 93 but 92-04 are the same.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I am not sure it has a weight on it, but I have ridden other KX 500's and they seem to be a bit more snappy than mine. I pulled out the flywheel and it looks bigger than normal.... I may not know what I am saying here since I am new to the KX5....
I just rebuilt the entire motor, so I know its not a motor issure.

will a 87 weighted flywheel work on the newer engines? will the stator also?
