KX60 HELP! In need of rebuild!

oh haha so right now I am looking at trying to split the engine. 3 of the 5 phillips screws are stripped. once i split it I will clean out the engine of all metal bits, then should I look at buying the rod and bearing or a new crankshaft. A new crankshaft is about 130 bucks but a rod and bearing is 60

yeah a rod is $60 and labour is around $130 so 130+60= $190 for rebuild. 130 for new crank. so i think we came to a conclusion.

yes I understand. I can see a little and the lower bearing on the rod doesnt move with the rod and it is cracked. I think this link is perfectly what I need.

but after the bike is altogether do I kick it and it will recompress itself? also the piston is the right size for the cylinder but when the piston has the rings on it it doesnt slide in the cylinder?

i heard those cranks are made in china. not good when you are building an engine.

you said you ordered a NEW cylinder didnt you? are you pressing the rings with your fingers before sliding it into the cyl.? and are the rings in their locating pins? or if it is a new cyl and the piston WONT fit, did you order a standard sized piston?

wiseco makes parts that perform better than the nos parts. and yes I bought the standard sized piston and cylinder which is 43mm. The rings are in there locating pins. I take the cylinder and piston and try to put the piston in the cylinder with my hands but the rings are shaky which i think they are supposed to be.

yes, i took the piston and rings out of the box and put them both on. they spin and dont stay in their little pin spot. Do I bend them in or something. People say usually the ring gaps are always loose out of the box

thats because you have to keep them pressed in with your finger

Ok I will try right now. Even if the piston and rings are that tight on the cylinder it will still move fast with it inside?

yep. I pushed the rings in with my fingers and it went in. It's just that when its in the cylinder I can't move it anymore. It's really tight in there.

did you oil the bore?

Not yet. I will once I open the engine and clean it and get the crank altogether. Once the bottom end is done I will do that. Do I have to dip all the parts in oil before I put them in? like all the bearings, the cylinder walls, the head, and the piston? or what?

if you were test fitting the piston then you will need to put oil on your fingers and spread it all over the cylinder and piston.
