1989 KX500 Flywheel puller
« on: January 01, 2011, 04:09:28 AM »
Can anyone tell me the thread size for a flywheel puller for a US spec KX500 1989 model.
Thanks.
I have a 27x1 mm L/H thread but that does not fit.

Does your rotor say F3T81171 on it?
Does it look like this?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Shouldn't be any different. I've got an 87 and a 93 and both use the same puller. I'll look and see if I can figure out the thread count and size on my puller. Bought it 15 years ago and it has worked on every flywheel I've ever had to pull.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

Your threads may be messed up and you may have to chase the first thread or so with a thread file or a tap.Thread files are a great addition to the tool box.CBX
Yep, you can ride it - if YOU can start it !!

This is my thought as a 27MM x 1.0MM L/H fits about 25 years worth of MX bikes  :-o

Spot on Guys!
Realised I had a brand new spare flywheel and stator, tried the puller in there, perfect! Cleaned the threads on the old one and guess what? .......Fitted perfectly.
Thanks for your help.
