Hello, everyone. My name is Brandon. I grew up riding in the woods and raced motocross from '96 to '01. I dropped down from riding weekly to once or twice per year when I left for college in fall of '01. Once I graduated in '05, I picked up an R6 and began learning how to ride a sport bike. I have kept a dirt bike of some type the whole time but haven't spent much time on them until this year. My roots are coming back, and I am spending most of my two wheeled time in the woods again.
My last race bike was an '01 KX125. I sold it and picked up an '05 KX250F in '05. I really liked that bike and thought I would never go back to a two-stroke. That changed when a couple of friends were generous enough to let me ride their CR500s. I ran across a '98 KX500 for sale locally last fall and picked it up. I love the power, but the suspension is lacking a little. I was thinking about putting some money into the suspension, doing a conversion with the 250F I had, or selling it to buy a newer KTM 300. When I was checking out some other K5s for sale to get a ballpark price for the potential sale, I ran across a perfect solution - an '04 KX250F with the heart of a '96 KX500. I have only ridden it a few times, but it is hands down the most enjoyable bike I have ever been on in the woods. The conversion was done by Joe Imbrogno of Large Bros. Racing in Yonkers, NY. He done an incredible job building it. If any of you are in his area and would like to have someone do a K5 SF or AF conversion, then I highly recommend contacting Joe (largebros@yahoo.com).
It is likely that I am one of the smallest K5 riders on the board at 5' 10" 150lbs. Throttle control is essential when I am in the woods now.
Anyhow, enough rambling, now for the pics. A couple of clean shots of the SF and one of the '98 in the woods.
