Hello everyone, noob here
« on: June 24, 2010, 04:45:16 PM »
Hey everyone!  I'm Bill and I just got back in the dirt after 20 + years. I have been riding street bikes for a long time. One day, I borrowed a dirtbike from a friend and got hooked all over again.  Two weeks later, I picked up a '90 KX500 which is WAY more bike than I need but it was a screamin deal and I have much better ego control than I used to.  Love the power of this thing, the powerband hit is ridiculous.  Gonna be a fun summer!

Dirtybill? The Canuck from BC?
There can't be many people calling them self that on the internet so it must be the same one?
I used to be on Visordown but it got kind of childish on there a while ago so I don't bother any more.

Welcome in, there's a hell of a lot of good tech info stashed away in the minds of the members here and a good bit of its on the pages somewhere here.
Friendly bunch and we usually get round to answering things eventually.

If its not the same person then welcome in anyway.

Regards Scott.

welcome to the site. Ride the 500 in a gear higher then you think it should be in.  The idea is to keep the bike in the meat of the torque and lug it a little. Tires will last way longer and so will the rider. Just an open class tip if you want it.

Welcome, You sound like allot of the rest of us, years off dirt bikes to get married, raise kids, make our fortunes or whatever. We all comeback for more, hopefully smarter than before. Stay safe on the 500 cause as you know that dog has teeth and it will bite.
I am leaving this world the same way as I came in to it, screaming and covered in somebody else's blood.

Thanks for the welcome guys.  No, I'm not that dirty bill,  It was the only user name I could come up with that this board would allow.

I am figuring out that if normal bikes use 1st gear to climb a hill, I use 2nd or 3rd.  I'm impressed with the power if this bike.  I've already just about roasted the rear tire but have a new one ready to put on.

Welcome,
Glad to hear to got a KX500. I love them also (500's that is).  I have been collecting them for a few years. I have one or two of each flavor, but I prefer the power of the Kawi. Latley I have been buying everyone that I can find for a good price. I have quite the stockpile of parts. Give a hollar if you need somthing.
