01 vs 05 KX-125 Model
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:42:07 AM »
I'm looking at doing a KX / KDX Hybrid build and currently looking at 2 potential KX Models (01 & 05 Models).  I've heard the handling, specifically turning radius is much better on the 05? Any one have an opinion?  And are there any other significant differences between the two?

Thanks

Bouillion,

The 05 Chassis is a better chassis for pure moto, but the 99-02 Chassis is a good all around setup. I would think the 01 would be a better candidate as the motors are closer in design with the KDX, as the 03 & up have a all new design. Thought about doing one myself but my welding ability is non existent (bubble gum would hold better). Keep us posted on your progress.

I did a little research and it looks like the 05 model actually is less trouble as far as modes go.  It apparently with accept an FMF narly pipe without having to modify it and a larger after market tank?

I'm going to go with this 05 (see link).  The seller and I came to an agreement on a price and its just too sweet to pass up.  What ya think? Any idea what I might be able to get for the motor?

Here she is at her new home.

I almost hate to start tearing it down.

Anyone interested in the motor just let me know. I'd like to get $800 for it?

It is supper clean and was barely ridden!! Never ridden out of the yard and he claims never beyond 3rd gear?

220r off my son's 2002 KDX.  He bought an 09 KTM 250 XCW and gave me the KDX so we could build the hybrid together.

He and my daugther took the KX to the track today and had a blast.  He said it was the smoothest 2 stoke he has ever ridden.
