9mo.28,000miles Where's Ricky?
« on: March 15, 2010, 05:14:01 AM »
I own a few K5's but my passion is dual sport riding.  Here's a guy I have ridden with, in S.E. Okla. a few times.  He had a dream like most dual sport guys but he lived his dream.  It's a long read, took him 9 months and 28,000 miles, look at the pictures and video if nothing else.

Thanks for the post Danger!  I love hearing stories about that kind of riding, though havn't done much.  I just finished watching 'long way round' and 'long way down' - not exactly the same, but still pretty cool documentaries about long and adventerous rides across continents.    ted
If some is good, and more is better, then too much is JUST RIGHT!  B.O.

Thats a great story.  A few years back a couple of friends and I to a 4 week motorcycle trip thru India.  We rented Royal Enfields for $10 a day and did over 1500 miles.  Has anyone else done a cool trip?

wow how cool could that be, quit job, have bro join you for a while. then all the way down south.

especially the way he recorded the ride.  i checked out the thread and tagged along felt like i was there.  i would have gotten tired of the cops, people beggin and all plastic bags litterd.

thanks for sharing , i like that seat cover he had on his bike .

i too like dual sport and epic adventures.

maybe on day soon ill figure or chart a epic dual sport ride of the united states, maybe canada and alaska oh and some baja.

p.s. must be cool to have rode with dude before.  Ruben C. :-)

Hey Danger
I've got the bug for dual sport riding lately. Right now I'm trying to get an xr650L stuffed in my xr600R so I have e-start, turned into a bigger job than i thought,,,I will probably just sit and hit the starter button for $**ts and giggles for the first while. Anyway do you think a forum for KLRs is possible on this site? I've looked at some and have wondered if anyone has ever put inverted forks on the green pig. Is that getting to far from KX?

The KLR650 has been around longer than the KX500 and the KLR is still in production.  Many forum sites.
One of the KLR guys that shows at some of the meets I attend has KX500 forks.
