Cast motorcycle wheel repair

Just so you guys all know and don't find out the hard way like I did. Although they can do an amazing job of fixing cast wheels they can not get them truly straight. They can only get them close and then they machine the wheel where the tire rides to get that portion true. So what you wind up with is a wheel that has a smaller bead diameter and the wheel is still bent. Unless you have a bike that is a museum piece never have a damaged street bike wheel repaired. I have been without my bike for ten weeks it has cost me $380.00 for the experience and heartache like none other. I could have purchased a good used wheel off ebay for $200.00 and had it powder coated local for $100.00 and I would have had it six weeks ago. This is one of those life lessons best learned by watching some one else do it.

So I got my money back for the wheel work and this is what ron at frame straitsystems had to say and my not so polite response

 I have seen that the wheel has arrived, and in the interast of ending the war of words, I am fully refunding $330.00 you spent to repair this wheel. As it is your judgment that the wheel was unsafe for use, it has been cut up for scrap. Ron
 
So I guess you are not going to give me my $50.00 I spent on shiping back. So if you destroyed that wheel I sure would love to see some pics for proof. By the way, who gave you permission to destroy it. Just because you f**ked the wheel up didn't make it yours it is still my wheel. So no matter how you look at it, you still f**ked me out of my wheel. The wheel was atlest worth something as a repairable wheel before you got ahold of it. So if I take my car to the repair shop and they screw it all up, they should get to keep my car, if they refund my money for the work they did. Bryan

An interresting experience!  There's no way they should have shipped your wheel to you as "repaired" given those runnout specs.  Not a very concientious company.  Thanks for letting us know. Cam.

Ouch. I think you got 'em by the family jewels there BDI. Obviously you have a better head on your shoulders than that idiot, that decided to destroy a customer's wheel. Small claims summons comin up. I would think you would get total reimbursement, if not a decent true wheel. It will probably still take awhile, but if you have to get the job done another way, I would keep a close cost sheet on it. You might be owed that expense also. Is this their policy to satisfy a disgruntled customer? Sounds more like destroying evidence of an upcoming court case, where they would be found negligent in their process. This way its just he said/she said for them.
