Picked up an 03 YZ250 this week for $1300. Figured that thanks to the economy I can have a whole bike with rockin suspension cheaper than I could ever modify the old 89 Kx 500 for. This bikes so much easier to ride but definitly missin the extra power and luggability of the ol 500.

So now needing advice. I have a used and abused KX500 with a title. Pull the motor and build it? I HATED the way it handled and Im not big enough to throw the pig around at 5'6" 170. Im mostly into duning and cinders (volcanic pebbles here in AZ...). What should I do with the motor/chassis? Anyone needing a complete, minus motor/carb/electricals, rolling chassis w/ title? Whats the best year KX250 with a good frame/suspension to swap into?

BTW now that I have a running YZ, and a trx450, totally not afraid to strip this bike down or send off stuff (head?) to recommended builders. I havent touched it so far cause I cant live with just a quad  :-D

My 02 YZ426 is what made me part with the old K5. Sell the yz, buy a 06-08 KX450, sell the engine and you will have NO extra money in a great rolling chassis. I would do the selling in reverse, the YZ is good inspiration. Then start building.
