I also have T8's. On my 3rd pair, and they are good, like you said, for several years. I think the bootie in the boots is what makes them so comfortable, and don't think the T3's have them. There was a member called "Alpinestars" and he had some Tech 8's that he sold from time to time. I think he worked at a bike shop and was getting good pricing because he had different sizes of new boots. I bought a pair of white ones from Motosport, but Black hold up better for the long life that they have.
You can get replacement soles and booties, to get you through until better times, too. By the way, my teammate bought some of the new tech 10's and they are not much better than 8's. The toe is like the 3's where they don't have the stapled steel plate. On those the sole wraps the toe. The buckles are new design on the 8's like the 10's. They are hard to snap if you have slack in it.

i just got a new pair of tech threes... they are no tech 8 by any means i.e. no bootie, no hinge, no rebuildable sole or toe.  They retail for 200.00 so 75 is a steal. but if you've owned a pair of 8's your feet might be spoiled and not willing to reverse back to a price point model.  ask yourself" do i want new cheap boots every other year, or nice boots that may last 4 years?"  its always a luxury to have a second dry pair  pretty sure you rip out in the desert though( i watch your vimeos) so you may get them and not even want to break them in( 2-3 hrs of saddle time b4 i felt good in them) 8-)

so i went out and got the tech 3's. my buddy sold them to me for $60. so even if they only last me a yr or 2,i can handle that. they fit good & feel right on the foot. so im pretty happy(so far).
thanks for the props. i try. still have a long way to go. in due time 8-)

I'm wearing tech 8's. Bought them in mid 2003.  I found a new set on E- Bay last year for $250 shipped.  I'm trying make the old pair last the rest of this season.
