How much gear oil does the gear box hold on the 90 K5.

Did some hunting threw some old threads here and could not find a answer.

27.1 onces. I measured out 28 onces each time.

Yep not much differance between 28 to 32 onces. d**n I love that ATF type F in the gear box.

Not any harm in it.  I always run my gearboxes with more than the alloted oil quantity. I am a more is better type. Cam.

Naw, I'm serious.  That's all I do, drop a quart in and ride.  I change after every other ride also.  It's not too bad, seeing how that type F is fairly cheap.

Thats a good theory, but what about foaming with excess oil levels? Thats always a legit concern I think.

I can't see foaming being an issue in a dirt bike trans. Dirt bike trans (2-stroke) are not pressurized with oil and for the most part almost submerge in oil. Foaming can occur in auto engines due to an increased oil level which allows the crankshafts counter weights to whip the top layer of the oil and churns it into a froth. Aerated/pressurized oil will not lube the plain bearings found in four stroke engines.

You'll love the ATF type f in the gear box. Better shifting and clutch action.

Good, You change your gear oil every-other ride? Your just wasting money and oil in my opinion. What does it look like when you drain it? Probably no different than new.
