rear fender mod

ok guys i wanted to see if it would work it did!! i used a rear fender off of a 08 kx250f

I had a look at it in person. It fits pretty good, especially under the seat and airbox. Cam.

i did a fender mod myself once ,i got stuck with the fender/seat gap you have there too.
my solutions too it were :

got an old windsurfboard ? take one of the feet-straps off and mount it over the gap,side to side
like if the bike lays on the ground ,you can pic it up right there on the feetstrap/

but what i did was chop the tip off an old fender,
made it fit exact over the gap and one small parker to hold it ,
i even could store a few things in it,FE like an emergency sigaret and lighter

that would work really well im going to have to try it hmm i need to find an old fender first front or rear?

I was thinking that you could cut a half-moon shaped peice of 3/4" plywood to fit the gap then remove a few staples from the seat cover, tuck it inside and staple it backup.  Then it would look like part of the seat. Cam.

good thinking Cam,but if i have a correct visual here ,i think your idea maid not work.
i have 4 stock k5 seats,they all have been recut right after the staples.
so there would be not enough seatcover left on the rearbottom side of the seat to tuck a piece under it .
atleast i recon from a look at mine though 

best is for k5for-life ,now i see the new pics,
to flatten out the rear end of the seat,try cut the highest rearsection down ,
and then the mod i did with my k5 ,but thats just my humble opinion ..

That finder looks good, but the original finder just matches the body style of the bike and looks better to me.

Did you miss the write-up on the '93 fender? Fits very tight, with very little work. The only people that know its different, are kx 500 owners. You have to discourage water, mud, and i guess, road film, from pouring right in on the filter. The holes may cause some issues for you there. I even silicone the fender to the airbox, above the mud flap, to eleminate any stuff getting between the fender and air box.
 I think it was Camm, that mentioned a stock fender front half, with a zip-tied straight fender on top of the OEM one, where the ties were hidden under the seat, and gave the straight fender look with all the fitment and sealing of the right fender.
  I know that was some work, I tried a couple different ones before finding kxriders, 94-96 bolt up differently, 92 bolts right up, but has like 2" of fender sticking out that was originally covered by the seat. 93 is the best choice for fitment and sealing, IMO. It is easy, however, to use whatever front fender you like.

  The 93 fender is very hard to find in Canada. I actually put that same 07 fender (in black) on my sons XR200. The seat gap isn't as bad and I used foam to fill it. Cam.

im also fitting a 08 kx450f front fender on my k5 as well and i have a acerbis desert tank on its way
