Anyone run it? How does it do?
2000 KX500
2005 XR650L

Neither are stock, and both are great desert bikes.

I've run a 15T out on the ice. You definately notice the added load placed on the engine, you do loose some snap. However if you have the room to really let your KX500 breathe, go for it.

Be carefull with a 15T, as the outer circumference of the chain gets REAL close to the case, don't run a crap chain.

Oh really. Hmm. I have a trip out to SoCal next month to Goler. Near Randsburg. I want some taller gearing to keep up with my buddies on XR650R's and 650L's. 14/48 wont cut it.

I Run a 15/45  and all i can say it rocks =)

Its perfeckt for ice and fast gravel roads

Not hard trails and tight spots

15/43 here. once you get used to slipping the clutch to get moving, you will love the taller gearing. keeps the bike in the "meat" of the power for longer.

There are places around Ransburg you can use that high of a gear?! everytime I have been up there... (Randsburg) High gear doesnt apply...

I run 15T here in local socal desert.  1st gear leaves alot to be desired in rough rockie stuff... (too high)  but otherwise it works great...

i use 15/47 for desert.  fast enough and still pulls

One teeth more at the front won't be a probleme for chain lenght.

I run 14-50 and 15-50 with the same chain. Axle moves forward about .5 inches.
If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to fix it!

im running a 13/44 combo(came on the bike that way) i did not know they even made 13. i had to count it 3 times to make sure i got it right. i guess that explains why its such a mountain goat and great for the tight trails. it is a lot slower then my '01 on the top end. i still think im going to fly wheel weight it and put taller gears on it
