Is this a reasonable gear box oil?

Neither are stock, and both are great desert bikes.

I have been using Rotella T syn 5-40 and haven't had any problems, however there is very little WOT territory
we have to ride.   The Rotella is around $21.00 a gal. at Wal-Mart.
I don't think I ever read anything bad about the Bel-Ray, Honda (Red Bottle)Gear lube or Royal Purple.
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but it seems to me the most important aspect of tranny lube is to keep it clean/changed.
I can suggest measuring the amount at draining to make sure the crank seal is holding up.
Had I done this earlier, I think I would have caught the CR before I started fouling the plug 15 miles away from the truck. :|

The Belray 85W gear saver is great gear oil.  It is also expensive.  If I had to run 1000 miles without changing my oil I would use nothing but the Belray.  However, since I can change my oil anytime I want I use regular cheap 10W40 with great results, and change it more often.  (On a 450 the most worn out engine part is the drain plug).  Cam.

ps.
It is rare, but sometimes a bike can have a "trick" transmission with a shifting or clutch quirk that a particular oil will hide. You just have to try a few oils to see which one works.  For example, my CBR900RR hates the Amsoil synthetic but shifts and clutches like a dream with regular mineral Bardahl 10W40.  My previous street bike was the other way around. Hmm.
