Breaking in the new 500AF
« on: January 18, 2009, 02:13:27 PM »
A couple of videos. One of me talking a little smack and the second one a break-in ride for the 500AF. It's a place called APEX in North Las Vegas.

(With music in the back ground)
I've been through the desert on an "AF" with no name, it felt good to be out of the rain..........

Man, that's one of those "bring water/bring shade" riding areas.  You never run out of, bet you can't climb that...

Nice ride! I can tell you want to be the one leading on the trails in that area. Dust and rocks in the one behind you.

I went over this drop off a couple of weekends ago and feel lucky to be here talking about. The hill climb has about a two foot vertical at the top so you have have to hit it straight up vertical then after you're airborne nose the bike over the top. The pictures don't do it justice. There's a memorial at the bottom where someone got killed and I thought it meant that they died right where the memorial was. Now I know better.

Problem was... there was no top! About a 20 foot vertical drop off on the other side with some dirt to land in for one bounce and then a pile of rock. Knocked myself out, broke both the clutch and brake lever off and anything that could be out of alignment on the front end, was! Both sides of my new AF's plastic was all scratched and gouged. I've already got most of it replaced. My left hand has two sprained fingers, left shoulder is dorked up and my right elbow still hurts. I've got a nasty bruise on my left hip and side area.

This is the memorial on the approach side of the hill

This was the landing zone. The big pile of rocks I went into is not in this picture.
It's hard to tell from the photo but it's about a 20 foot vertical drop before you get to anything that you can land on. All I remeber is one bounce and then coming to.

Here's the stop sign that I made to hopefully keep anyone else from getting hurt or killed.

I was with two riding buddies that thank God did not follow me up that hill. They didn't think they could make it up. Going up was the easy part!
