Speed Run
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:38:13 AM »
Well i went for a run to shoot a vid a few days ago.

Even wore a helmet cam for apart of the filming.

On the GPS (on vid) i was doing 102 mph.

Anyway the motor seemed to surge back & forth at that speed. I know it could go faster but it seemed as if it was starving for fuel.

Question ???

With the Lectron Carb.............should i try going down a clip position, or change the main.

Also what brand jets will fit ??

Burning 40-1 sythetic Amsoil................112 octane.........about 45 F temp.....sea level.

Plug is nice & brown ............. ofcourse that was at moderate to low rev...basically stopping in my shop.

Right on ... never looked at the inards of the Lectron................so any suggestions ???

Even with the sutging i'm sure i could have sqeezed another few more mph's out of my K5, but i didn't want to run lean for any distance.
It does not starve in any other gear, at any rev.....only topped out in fifth.

116 isn't available in my area ................ 112 is even hard to get  :x

I guess that is the price you pay for living on an island in the Great North Atlantic.

Best believe it is beautiful though...LOL !!!  :-D

Right on  :-D That's gotta be it  :-D...........man she friggin rips now  :-o

Can't wait to try her tomorrow.

I' had a good laugh on one of threads awhile back, about a guy asking what would happen if we dumped the clutch from first to second...LOL !!!

I can easily loft my K5 in fifth without clutch, & not even in the power.....& that is with the crappy power jet setting.

My bike is a monster

Sorry for the rambling / bragging....but i love my bike

Not dumpin' from 1st to 2nd, just second gear. Pinned and dump it. Believe it or not, thats the method used for holeshot in hillclimbing. It is half or 3/4 insane. Try getting the wheel spinning and keep it spinning for  a comfortable length drag strip. Its funny to me, to watch guys trying to race without spinning the wheel. Sometimes they are upside-down before breaking the first set of timing lights.
Glad to hear your bike is running better. check out some hillclimb vids on youtube. 2nd gear all the way, pinned.

My bike will loop out in fifth gear on the asphalt just by rolling it on but I launch it in second with the throttle wicked wide open. Anyone sitting with in a 150' behind my bike gets hit with rock and sand. I let my buddy bob take my bike for a pass up the hill and he got me dead in the melon with a rock from a solid 100' away and it took chunk out of my helmet. I got roosted by my own bike   .

that's why you need to pop the clutch then it will smoke the tire instead

Gonna go out for a rip today,,,,i'm sure the 1 1/2 turns out on the power jet will clean up the top end.
I cannot imagine this bike being any more potent then it already is  :-o
I'm gonna need to strap binoculars on my goggles to ride this thing.

That's another thing about my bike.....what seems far away is right now.... :|

Anyone know of a really good tire ... i'm sick of changing the rear.
Got two hard terrain tires on the way.........but i wasn't real sure on what type best.
