hand needed with kickstarter issue

hey guys ,its kind a dull question...but what if the spring is de-tensioned
do i need to take off the clutch basket ? correct?

please enlighten me

maybe is there an exploded view laying around of the kickstarter assembly inside the case..

Yeah, I think you need to pull the basket to fix it. But you can check operation before putting the cover back on.

I recall that there is clearance to get the spring off without pulling the clutch basket off.   It has been a while so I could be wrong. Cam.

So you think the spring is no good? I worked in a spring factory and usually those things last forever.

Did the spring come unhooked? Did you spin it around 360 or so increase tension. Doubt you would have to remove basket to remove spring.

The kickstart return spring/gears needs to be timed, so if you've had the ratchet assembly apart it may be out of time. My buddy replaced the gear and spring because it wasn't engaging all the time, he just slipped it together and then complained that it wouldn't return, sure enought it was out of time.

correct ,spring is good,its out of timing ,


The kickstart return spring/gears needs to be timed, so if you've had the ratchet assembly apart it may be out of time. yes ,i know i have to rotate the spring one more time so then there,s more tension on it.
