I'm new to the KX500 and just picked up a 96/7 and spent the week getting it ready to ride. Now that I have it running and took it out I'm hooked in more ways than one. This week the bike got the carb done, tracked down the Funny Noise (spring rubing), oil change (atf), clean gas (ams 50:1), plug and air filter (need an airbox if anyone has one cheap)... spokes tightened (pretty bad) and went for a three hour ride. As soon as I got back ordered new piston/rings (why not), seat cover and graphics... I'm gone this thing realy fly. Alot of bike for northern minnesota wood traills. great site.
