Just picked up a 94 KX250 and trying to get the bugs out of it.
First off, I havn't done a compression test, will do one I'm hoping tommorrow but heres the problem.
Can't find the idle screw, I know where the air mixture one is but I believe the idle screw has been broken off. Any good ideas how to fix that? Right now, she almost idles but then dies. I know this has to do with it being rich(adjusted the a/f screw for it) but would really like to get that repaired.
welcome
on my bikes i have a plastic idlescrew,
if so on yours ,that remaining piece should come out easy.
Next problem, shes leaking water out of the headgasket even when it doesn't run. Supposely it has about 20 hours on a rebuild that included an oversized piston. I retorqued the headbolts to see if that helps. Compression test to be done to see if a rebuild is neccessary or just a gasket change.
i should do a rebuild just to make sure there are no cracks in the head
and new gasket is needed then but at least you will know the state of your topend
Oil leak behind the front sprocket. Anyone have the part numbers for the parts needed to repair that. I would like to get the thicker o ring from home depot but without knowing the correct size I guess I'll have to go to the dealer. Also the front sprocket has alot of in/out play, that ok?
dangers info should do it here,
but for the play on the frontsprocket,
is there play on the axle like the sprocket moves back and forth on its innerteath,
don,t know the english wordor the axle itselfs coming out /in?
Lastly, front forks. Its very strange but theres no rebound or compression with the front forks. Its as if theres no oil but theres no leaking at all from it. I would like to just fill the forks back up first and see if this helps or at least check the oil level. Anyone know how to do that?
you can renewal the oil in the forks ,if there,s any
if not sealings are dried ,worn out
best way is to take one out of the clamps,
there,s a big nut or coverplate on top .
losen that one and let the oil flow in a transparant bottle,
so you can see how much was in there and the state of it.
then refill with new fork oil while fork is @ its shortest lenght
fill it and leave an airchamber of around 10 CM in there.
don,t know inches sorry
Thanks for your guys help.
