cranks
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:54:54 PM »
My 87 KX 500 motor went out last weekend. Pulled the top end apart and found the rod moving up and down on the crank between 1/8" and 1/4". I was told by someone that I would need a new crank. I've checked the part numbers between different years and they don't match, but that doesn't mean much. Does any other year crank interchange with the 87 case?

Thanks in advance.

ouch... thatsh not good. you should be able to replace the rod and rebuild the crank. i know some of the guys around here are using the CR500 rod because it is longer.

the cr500 rod is 1 mm shorter then kx500 rod. great for stroker cranks.
