I dont have a scanner to print a picture, but it's thicker.I have a '94 also and ride a-lot and just broke my origanal lever after thinking "if it had lasted this long it'd never brake".Buy the new one and keep your old one as a spare, but I dont think the new one will break. Were lucky Kawasaki updated the lever, after all they arent going to spend money on R&D or retooling for a bike thats gone down to less than 5grand!

There is a big difference,  they increased the Girth where it snaps about 100 percent.  I'd just upgrade ASAP.  I got my new lever for $85 Online.  I'll take a before and after Photo and document the upgrade in a little while.

Do not feel bad, I am on my third lever on my 99 kx500. Must be that last .020 off of the head I had to have. I tried calling BBR to see if they would build me a billet lever but no cigar. Kaw sells it only as the complete assy. with the knuckle for around $80.00.

You can get the lever for ~60 from a dealer in Florida.  I post the link when I find it.

hello,
pls, disregard my post above, i got the larger kicker now. it only took alittle research and 3 days ups. $95.
all the sites i went to maybe 15 sites, even 2 in fla. all referred you to the original kawi site, (which you can't buy from, only research and i.d.) or a variation of the same site. they've told me that it's all bigger from 2002 and above, thanks, jdv.

hughes,
i see that your near me, i'm in northeast ala, we got great woods and endless trails here, do you have a large tank.? i could show you the place. anyway, about the lever, the kawi site rep a talked to assured me that the 2002 to 2004 levers are the meatier levers to have, if you order for your yr bike and it's earlier then these yrs you'll get the thin one back to you instead. ** be careful on bike bandit.com as they show 2  part numbers for the same yrs and they all could not tell me which was which. after you get into the kawisaki.com site and work into the parts diagram section(fake-it) and type in that you have the 2004 model and it'll bring up that page, you'll see the lever there as a complete assembly. they do not sell from that site but refer you to an auth dealer, you can find them on your own as well. any site that has an o.e.m. section will get you to the same exact parts diagram as you were just in, in the kawi.com site, but now you can click on it and add to cart and order it.
oh,!!! many sites use their own in house part numbers, not kawi part numbers, be careful and type in the most current yr model bike,04. this will keep you in the good revised parts. let me see here in my papers what the part number was.......ka13064-1201, you should then see that it cost $95 ..the o.e.m. site that i used was worldofpowersports.com, they don't carry it in-house but they are an authorized kawi parts dealer and hooked me up..so, there you go,,,,,now your hooked-up... see ya, jdv   research is great.

just a note,
after installing the new thick and beefy kicker, remember to use lock-tite on the threads, as mine came loose in the driveway after just a few minutes of idling..jdv

Well two levers in about 2 months    At this rate, i'll be needing a whole shipment of levers.  This time I was lucky enough to be at the trailer.   Just wondering if anyone has a website or a telephone number to the cheapest, beefy lever around? Seth
