kx500 *cough* clutch cover
« on: February 08, 2007, 01:51:26 PM »
i was  curiuos if anyone  manufactuers a side cover/ with clutch cover for the kx500 engines?

if  not, i will probably design and make them
as i'd like the kx500af to have that as part of the k5 *modernization* =)

i was talking with patrick at rekluse recently, and one of the reasons they do not make a autoclutch for the k5 is
the fact of no easy access clutch cover.

if i made them
(or if someone out there does where i could buy them in some decent quantity)
rekluse will consider making a zstart or pro design clutchg for them as weell..

any thoughts ?

An 88 89 clutch cover has the same diameter as the clutch housing on a KX500. I will be milling my spare 500 clutch cover and weld on the bosses to accomodate this. Doordie mentioned earlier that he added 10mm spacer to his, I'm not sure if this is to accomodate the Rekluse or create a new bolt flange.

It's definatley something I would consider buying (depending on cost of course) as I had been thinking about making one using an old clutch cover, milling it off and maybe using a 250 cover (which would be simpler to get gaskets for) but as thats a lot of hassle I would consider spending dosh if theres a better option.

Hit search to find the times its been mentioned before on here.

It?s very easy to make your own clutchcover in duralaluminium for strenght and not as me for showing off with Lexan.... :-D

Make a spacer and drill some holes or weld 5-6 aluminium tubes on stock clutchcover  and splitt/saw it apart and make some threads.
