 hello  all  i am new here   i have three kx 500  bikes  a 2000 a 2001   and a  2003    i have also  2 spare engines  i have been buying riding and modifying big bore kx s  since i had my kx 420 in the 80s  i have had several other kxs since  any way i  had post my dyno sheets on everything 2 stroke  to get help making more power  i have made 77 rear wheel horse on land and sea dyno   and 61 foot pounds of tq  at 500cc   with vp u2 fuel  44 lectron max power cyl  i ported and raised  .050  v force reeds    pro circut 2 pipe   and sil encer  15.1 to 1 comp   2 drgrees atiming adv   about 200  dyno pulls   any input would be helpful

Hello Steward,nice to have you on board,we will talk about making horsepower to KX500 if you want.
I have seen your dynos and I?m very impressed for sure!
I put them on here if it?s okay for you,just say the words....

I want to know what needles you use in Lectron 44mm for standard gasoline up to 103 oktan,not with blended alcohol that you maybe use also.
I got one and I will start test with Lectron as soon as possible and must have some guidelines if you want to share?

You talked about only 2 degrees advance,very little for sure,at what rpm do you measure it and do you use stroboskop or not?

i  started at 60 horse  rear  wheel with stock comprsio and timing and 110 race fuel fmf fatty pipe and v force reeds   i at 77 hp at 7000  rpm  and 61 ft of tq  at 6000   with lectron 44 and 15 to 1  made more power  on oxgenated gas   like vp u2 and vp cmp  and raised jug .050 pro cicut pipe etc  i have lots of parts i tried left overpipes etc do you want more detail  just let me know   we have made  hundreds of pulls trying 1 thing at a time

stewart,see you made it over.okay lets get'er going.did you try the rad valve against the v force?also when altering exhaust port timing did you massaged the center flap so in wide open position it was even with your new port roof.do i see chart right in that squish is .025.lastly have you tried a jemco down pipe for the kx500,which should put 1000-1500 more rpms on graph.my 2 cents

i found the best power from the v force reeds was 2 horse better than boysen or stock  i did not test the rad valve yet becuse  i was so happy with v force   yes i cut the top kips valve flap about till flush with top of exh   however i am not sure it helped at this time  i run 0 deck on piston to top of jug  a .010  gasket and .038  depth in cyl head   for a .048  squish  i have a nice head cuting fixture  we built and i turn  the squish angle to .4 degrees  about 2 more than the top of wiesco piston  i had max power coat bore and piston  i like them top coating  the piston like the cylinder wall  looks like ceramic chrome . i am running a 35 cc cyl head volume  right now stock is 42 cc  i have tried down to 29 cc

 the second two charts are old  stuff  before lectron44 and raised jug .050  the first chart was done in 98 degree temp but i have a lot of other charts about 100

were in the same ball park as far as squish.mine being .043.but have not changed angle yet.deck is also 0.tried some reed cages but rad valve worked better for my setup in drag 500ft.the pipe gives me lots of top end but a little loss in the bottom.hence another pipe is on order from shearer this time.you did also work on the auxillary exhaust ports a little too.some gain should be there also.another member here was looking into use of custom 90mm or 91mm pistons as well.over here going 3mil stroker seems to be most builders approach.i'm not sold on this yet in single cylinder drag race setup.piston speed and angle,rod ratios i'm still looking into.gonna try a 48 lectron and 87 cylinder on next build.

i only run 86 bore and 86  stroke  which is stock  what is your head ccs   we need to recut  head  angles

first i had the  base gasket made out of  .060   matrial  that is how i raised the jug .050 over stock   it is 0 deck at tdc  .010 gasket  .038 step in head  total squish .048.   i   run v force 2 reeds  changed when the flow  is not equal  on each section of reed block  by holding  up and filling with water and timing till each section is dry  130 transfer durtion 200 exh durtion  to top
