I have a 2002 KX500 ice racer (lowered suspension, etc.).  I can buy a 1996 KX500 and would want the Pro Action Suspension for summer riding.  Would the forks from the 1996, fit my 2002?

Also, I would get a 1993 KX500 with the deal.  Would I have a hard time parting these bikes out.  The 96 would have no wheels, or suspension(reason for me buying these bikes), and the 93 has a BAD motor, and a bad frame (he cut the frame to remove the motor??, a bolt was froze??).  I would need to get about $1000 for everything to make this make sence for me.  Is there $1000 worth of parts between the two?  Hmmmm, what to do?

Thanks in advance.

Between the two engines you can come close to getting 1,000 bucks, I would buy the bikes and then tear down and clean the parts and get your e-bay account started. What's wrong with the 93 engine?? Are the bikes in good shape or hammered??

From what Im being told, the 96 ran good, then he dropped a small part down inside the crank case (if thats possible) from the power valve.  He split the casesto remove the part, and it ran good for a minute, then "oil got sucked into somewhere that it shouldnt have gone", and the bike quit.  Other than that, the 96 is a good bike (I want the wheels and suspension off the 96 for a summer set up).

The 93 has a bad motor (wouldnt figure on much being good on the motor between the carb and the pipe, again havent seen it), and the frame is junk.  The 93 has good wheels, suspension, tank, carb, seat, etc.

I would take a look at the 93 engine if it's just a seized piston that's pretty cheap to repair. The 93 cases and trans can still carry a good value.

That being said, I think it's more than just seize.  I think there is "more better" parts on the 96 motor, if I can say that...lol

Does anyone know if the diameter of a 1996 fork, and a 2002 fork are the same? I am speaking about the front suspension...when I reread my post, it sounds goofy.

Thank you!
