What a ride today!
« on: September 28, 2006, 04:38:37 PM »
I wish I could have had some members along to share my ride today.  Took the afternoon off work and met a friend at a new area I had never been at before, about 1,500,000 acres in size, 30 km from my house.  Rode one continuous 60km loop in about 5 hours, gnarly single track, slow going much in 1st gear but not that difficult.  Rocks and roots everywhere, big hills, fallen trees to wheelie over, mud and ruts, and one 6' rock cliff dropoff that took me by suprise (was so cool that I had to turn around and do it again). Crossed a half-dozen crude log bridges someone had built over the larger creeks. Big, big fun!!  Best part was an ugly trail labelled "Yard Sale" where someone had nailed all the broken bike parts to the trees, fenders and radguards on every tree.  Wish I took some pics but I was having too much fun.  Might have to go back on Sunday (if I can lift my arms by then).
