Ouch! w/ pic
« on: June 13, 2006, 01:38:59 AM »
Here's one of those ouch storys with picture.
My younger brother has a Kawasaki KLR 650, he keeps in the garage with the car. It's a tight fit but he has moved the bike in and out many times without a problem.  On this day just like all the other times, the car was in with the bike.  He grabbed the bike and put the side stand up, he heard the clunk of the stand when it folded up.  In reality the clunk was the the side stand coming back down. He was on the left side of the bike, he and the bike were on the left side of the car.  As he backed the bike out he was in the process of moving his right foot behind him as he tried to clear the mirror of the car.  Leaning the bike to the left the foot of the side stand came down on his big toe, stopping his foot.  As he fell back, holding onto the handle bars it made the bike rare up.  With the front wheel up in the air all the weight was on the back tire and his big toe.  Ouch!!  It allmost mashed the nail off.  The next day it only had a small piece of skin holding it on so he pulled it off.  Yesterday when I took the pictures he was kind of laughing about it, it's been 40 days since it happened.

Yes, lets keep it motorcycle related please.  I started an "Ouch" thread back in 2006 so I merged the new thread.

That guy in good's first picture looks like he is out cold.

I know the last one is not 2 wheel related but wow.  That guy looks like nothing even happened.  People around him look like they are in more pain than he is.

i wish i had a picture of this but i don't. in late june 2006 i went to st. anthony dunes with a friend of mine. we rode around a little and checked out the general feel of the dunes and decided "piss on this, lets go to the big dunes". of course, this meant Choke Cherry hill. we rode up the razorback from the east side. checked out the top and my buddy on his KTM 550 says "i'm goin' down, i'll be right back". the top of the run at choke is very rounded off but it's decieving and is still very steep. well, you guessed it, he carried way too much speed at the top and made a huge unexpected jump of it. no lie here, not expecting to, he easily cleared 45-50 feet vertical and around 125 length. i didn't think anyones eyes could get as big as his were as he hit the crest. he landed it pretty well although a rough landing :-D.i was so dumbfounded that i couldn't even snap a picture. i thought i was by myself up there till he hit the top and i heard a guy behind me yell "hooooooooooly sh#t. good save, he landed it." he was sore but we rode another 2 days more, went back 3 days in july 2007 without any issues. last month he was having so much backpain couldn't walk anymore and had back surgery. i'm pretty sure that surprise jump is what ultimately did the damage. i wish i had a picture or a vid. of the incident to share with you guys, it was hilarious and terrifying all at the same time.    MADDOGGY

here's choke cherry hill looking east towards Teton mountain range in Wyoming.

I kid you not, I had an 86 red and white YZ80 that failed in the exact same way. It pulled the radiator hoses off the engine and sprayed me with hot antifreeze. I was jumping over my buddies pickup truck in the local sand pit. On my third jump I over jumped it a little, when I landed the bike snaped in half. I wish I had a picture of it :|
