Spark Plug and wrench?
« on: May 08, 2006, 05:19:19 PM »
Ive got a question for you guys. I go out on long desert rides and I always try and carry a plug wrench and extra plug just in case im out 20 or so miles and I foul a plug. I usally carry the plug and wrench in my camelback. What I was wondering if anybody has a good idea of where and how I could fasten the wrench and plug to my bike so I dont have to carry it on me.  Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Get a tool pouch kdx style for the rear guard? Fast easy acess. Heaps of enduro bike had them back in the day. Do KDX still have them?

I believe KXCam has an article here about a tool pouch for the KX. A slick idea. I would do it if I was doing alot of trails. A must for a trail machine. I'll try to dig up the article.

Sometime for just a plug & wrench it can be strapped to the crossbar pad.  I used to always carry a sm screwdriver tucked inside the pad for carb and clicker tweeking. Cam.

The strapping to the crossbar pad would be the best thing but I pro tapers without crossbar. Im trying to find maybe a spot to have the wrench and plug strapped to without being seen i have a pack for the outside but I dont like the way it looks.  Ive been thinking about maybe trying to mount them inside the airbox.

I'm sitting here reading this and had a thought. Most of the time when we are carrying spare "stuff" we are trail riding and do not need a front number plate for numbers. Why not get a headlight number plate and remove the light and make a tool caddy in it's space? A flat plate could be thumb screwed to cover the face where the light resided the internal storage could simply be a draw sting bag or something like that.

Just a thought. Ok back to work!!

Not a bad idea! The only thing that could be a concern would be putting to much weight up front. I know I can tell the difference between a 2 ply and 4 ply tire on the front end.
