uber kx 500
« on: April 28, 2006, 01:23:13 AM »
I currently have a 1993 kx500 with rad valves and fmf gnarly desert pipe with spark arrestor, i recently suffered an engine failure (which is actually a really good excuse to get it tuned!) so here is my shopping list tell me what you think of it:
complete engine rebuild at eric-gorr :
-resleeved cylinder
-big bore kit (88 cm of piston :O)
-stroker kit (if he has one)
-porting for mad mid and high rpm power
-pvl ignition(gotta get a ligth coil for that)
-all new bearings and likes
-piston plating, gearbox and bearings plated (ceramic composite)
-power everywhere porting
this is what 1500 $ will bring you at eg :D(very good price)

then the really insane part comes in , i have a 9-40 hp nitrous kit from my cagiva mito that i want to try out,
i suppose cryogenic treatement(only 200 $) will help ,this is what I have in mind, got the cash, got the parts, just gotta get time to send them out, I estimate 100 hp w/o nitrous and 120 on laugh juice .
And because all of this will make the bike unusable in street conditions i have a spare engine that will be stock as the day it left japan.

Sounds good.  Figure around 80-85 hp without the juice though.

Yep, 83hp. But, why would you want a PVL with a everywhere port? It will completed deplete the low-mid range. Might as well go with a total top-end port if you are going to use the PVL. Best way to use the power.

My guess would be high 70's to low 80's for the hp (sounds like a weather report ).  Pretty hard to hit 100 in a single cylinder without alcohol or something else.  To run the nitrous you may have to drill the carb passages or build an auxillary power jet that comes on with the nitrous. Otherwise (like running alcohol) it simply can't flow enough fuel.  Have fun. Cam.

Nitros on a Cagiva Mito..! That would have been pretty cool. Even cooler on a KX5 tho. What sort of ridding do you intend doing on this MONSTER? :-o

It's not that hard to do. I can run my R1 on my KX to around 100. It's game over then. I've actually, recently, put some more time into my street ride to help the performance and it is coming to par. They've closed everything local around here! The closest places are and hour+ to get it. So, no more weekday joy riding in the dirt. I now have to plan a weekend and designate an entire day to riding. That ain't happening anytime soon. It's a shame but how the story goes. So my KX has remained un-started for quite some time (months). Hopefully when it warms up and work lets up, I'll be back.
