Hi all,

Thought I should share something funny. I went down to my local store and these two guys came speeding in to the parking lot in a Celica (or something similar). The driver was revving the engine (not too much). When he let go of the accelerator, this huge flame came out of the exhaust!

Didn?t think much about it except that that car had some serious problems?

When the guy walked up right next to me I had to let him know, so I asked him if he knew he had massive flames coming out at the back of his car. (Mentioned something about poor cam timings as well?).

The response ?Yeah, I know. That?s awesome! There is a sparkplug in the back of the exhaust that does it!?

My jaw dropped and I forgot to ask if he also supplied petrol or something to get these flames.


If you can?t have the fastest car around, go for the second best ? flames..?

Has anyone ever heard of this? Am I just getting old?

That use to be hot trick to older hot rods here in the states.

John , that is quite common among the street rodders here in Michigan. They use a fuel nozzle and a spark plug. There are "competitions" to see whose flame thrower is the best.  It does take some skill to inject the fuel, light the spark and use the engine throttle as the blower.  At night it is quite a sight.
Spring is here and the Mighty 500 wants to ride.

You dont need any extra fuel delivery to make this work... you just cut a hole and weld a nut to the exhaust that you can thread the plug into, run a hot-wire to the plug from a switch, and when the plug is switched on it ignites the unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Ive seen flames shoot 15-20 feet out of a mini truck with this setup.

Jee, I am getting old then... I actually thought it was a joke when he told me.

I wonder if I should fit one of these flame thrower kits to me KX5? I know I am not the fastest rider, but I'd be making some damage to whomever's behind me! The kids will get the flames right in their faces!
