01 Kx125 runs great then bogs out
« on: August 01, 2018, 11:08:54 AM »
Hello,
I'm honestly lost at what could be wrong with my kx. I can ride it around the yard hitting the powerband and everything for a good 12 mins if that, and then out of no were it will just start to bog out, I can keep it running enough to get it back up to my garage but as soon as I leave off the gas it cuts right out, it's also spitting a lot of oil out the pipe as well.  I put a new v-force reed cage and reeds in I did a compression test and it was barely getting 100 so I did a top end rebuild with a Wisco pro-lite piston (had to send the head out to get replated :| ) redid the carb and cleaned it I have bought two new spark plugs, it came with a pro circuit front and back pipe which I  took the silencer apart and burned all the carbon out of it (currently running it without packing) new radiators and coolant and I cleaned the air filter. I could be forgetting some things but I honestly have bought so much stuff in the past couple months for this thing that I don't really remember what I bought  :-D.  Any advice as to what could be causing the bike to run like this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Pull your pilot jet and make sure it's clean and free of sediment. Look through the tutorials on the site and check to make sure your float bowl is adjusted properly. I'm assuming your neveruch past 1/4 throttle.

Note: there are a number of things to check but for now start with the basic simple things like fuel, spark and compression.

All the jets should be clean as I just cleaned the whole carb about 2 weeks ago, but I'll definitely pull it back out and take a look. As much as I would like to be in the power band 24/7 I can't because I live in a more quieter area so I try to not hit the power band too much. So yea I would say I stay in the 1/4 throttle range sometimes more.

My gas mixture is 32:1 and I always mix my 2strokes with Klotz benol. As for spark the last time I checked it had great spark but I will definitely check again. I haven't checked compression since I rebuilt it but now that I ran it for a little bit I will defiantly check that as well. I'll send you an update after I check everything tomorrow Thanks!

Check for garbage in your gas tank, check that you're getting good spark. Is it overheating at all?
'90 KDX 200 (rebuild - DONE!) - '94 KDX 250 (soon to be a KDX250af)

I would say the kx runs about the same temp as my 300xc ktm.

if you got heaps of oil coming out of pipe and you only riding small throttle openings , i say it running to rich down low and a change to a smaller number size pilot jet will help and make sure the float height is correct.

Maybe pull the plug and take a look at it
