i saw in a mag somewhere on a k5 that had the 450 back wheel and disc and caliper , would be more costly may be , but he said it worked great , i dont know all the details about the axle and bearings they used etc , i most likely do it when my stock parts are buggered, i did fit my kx250 06 2t  with the 450 caliper and hose to stop the banjo bolt from digging in to the swingarm as when things get worn it digs in to the swingarm , on the 450 it sit towards the top and front a bit more.plus it a tad lighter for less unsprung weight not that i noticed it.

Yes, I think the dual piston caliper may be a bit over overkill but it won't cost much to find out how well it works.
So far I have 55 bucks in it  :-D
Not to mention I am selling the other caliper that came with it and the two caliper mounts..
If they sell I could actually make money on the deal so why not  :-D
I think it may be ideal for street use but we will see...
If nothing else I can always do another and use the 450 rear caliper the next time..
Stay tuned...

Curious....would the caliper align if using a KX500 wheel/rotor?

Yes it would align providing you welded it up where it's natural position was.
I may end up doing exactly that after I check and see what the benefits if any using the dual piston set up.
Almost ready for a trial run.

So here is what we ended up with so far.
KX450F rear wheel
KX450F to KX500 rear axle adapters from Warp 9.
A used 94 CRB600 f2 Right front brake caliper.
KX500 01 rear brake caliper mount.
KX500 93 rear brake hose.
Nothing has been rebuilt.
All I did was disassemble the caliper, clean it, and reassemble it.
Modded the mount to make correct clearance and removed some unnecessary material, then bled and adjusted it.
That's it.
To do this right I should completely rebuild the master cylinder, the caliper, installed new pads (I used the pads that came on the used caliper), installed a new SS brake line, and installed a new rotor.

However, even with all this old used junk the performance is remarkably better..

But how much of the increased braking is from the larger rotor diameter and how much is from the dual piston caliper?
We will have to test it and find out...

I believe this is the final version for the CBR600 caliper..

Very nice work!  Is it intended for SUMO or dirt work?
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

Well the request was made by a Pro MX race dude....
He will be testing it when I'm done.
So for him it would be for the dirt.
For me, Supermoto and sand :-)

What is really cool about this mod is anyone can do it with a Sawsall and a bench grinder.
Of course you gotta know someone who can weld aluminum  :-o

Ok, all the parts are here for rebuilding the rear caliper as well as the SS hose.

Please ignore the polished KX500 Wossner rod in the background  8-)

So I pulled the caliper off my bike and completely disassembled it... Then cleaned it up really nice... Not that it wasn't clean before... But we are trying for a new level  :-D

Ok... here is where we are at on the rear brake mod. Yes, it works... But nothing special so I don't recommend doing it as it currently is. However, I have a more powerful rear brake master cylinder I'm working on so all is not lost. Plus.... I'm working on another direction and will post pics as I make some progress...
