Flat on bottom and doesn't Rev out like it should
« on: March 14, 2016, 12:58:29 PM »
Hi Guys,

Just a quick one before I take a look in to it further to see if there is any thing specific I should be looking for.

My 1988 500 feels a little flat off the bottom and doesn't Rev out like it should. It's just had a top end rebuild after the cylinder was out for repair. I'm just wondering if the power valve maybe hadn't been set back up just right but don't think that would really affect the bottom end. So maybe carb setup ?

Any suggestion welcome I'll be taking a look on Thursday so any hints or tips appreciated.

Thanks

If you take the kips cover off you should be able to actuate the rod.  If you take your exhaust off and shine a flashlight in there you just need to make sure the valves are rotating open.  After that its plug chops to get your jetting dialed in.  I'm delaing with the same thing right now.  Good luck.

after i got my sleeved cyloner back i put both rod valves in 100% backward.on the wrong side. so ya it wouldnt get any power to speak of when i throttled it. so maybe thats the issue.the one with the ring goes next to the idler. honestly mine wasmore flat on the top end. got no real strong power. the lower end didnt seem to be affected truthfully.
