Welcome to the site DR.Frankenstein.
I'm sure there is someone on this site that has swapped the 250 forks.
I have not but here is what I can tell you.
1995 was the last year of the 43mm forks.
96-01 used 46mm
02-07 used 48mm
So, any newer fork will require a different triple clamp.
The bottom bearing 92116-1069 is the same including up to the 2015 450f.
The top bearing 92116-1076 is also the same including up to the 2015 450f.
So the question is, are the steering stems the correct length?
That I can't tell you but someone here can...
But it looks very promising...
Post some pics of your project....
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

The newer the better... but I would stay away from air forks.

don't let air forks scare you I been using them since 2013 , we have our settings down pat , beside you can change them to spring as race tech have spring conversion for showa and soon kyb but we work on gold valving them which helps especially the mid valve , they skf have new internal seal heads design to reduce friction on the showa and race tech also have new bottoming cones as well for them , I also tried the 2015 kx450 forks on the std k5 and they were a improvement , the 16 450 forks are better again , plus they are so light. as soon I find a set of air forks I will be bolting on my 01 250 /500 , as bladder forks are rubbish tip material.

For woods riding/enduros the 03 48mm non bladder forks are great! Im running them on my 04 250/500 hybrid, my 07 KX250 and on my wifes 04 KX300 big bore. They were revalved by WER or Works Enduro Rider. The 04 bladder forks work ok when revalved but just dont feel as plush as the 03 forks. I have heard that the bladder can be disabled and they work better but I havent tried that yet.

I disabled my 01 250 bladder forks a long time ago, helped a bit , but are a long way behind the air forks , dr can you give me the top and bottom clamp hole size and I see what I can find .
