Clutch actuator bearing removal
« on: December 15, 2015, 01:53:17 PM »
Hi Everyone, this is my 1st post here. I have an 88kx250 that I am completely re-.............making. So, one of the issues that I had when I tore it apart was the clutch actuator bearings were pretty much completely gone. The outer race and the needle cage was there, & it did some damage to the actuator shaft. I looked for some ideas on how to pull the bearings out, the top one was not issue, just used my blind  brg. puller set. But it took me some thought & did some brain-storming with some friends, & we came up with a pretty good solution. We just used a 14mm x 1.5 thread tap & screwed it down into the bearing, we then used a big set of Vise-Grips and clamped to the end of the tap and used a brass hammer to hit the Vise-Grips to pull the brg. out. the first try pulled the cage out, and then we screwed it in a second time and out came the race. Hopefully someone else would find this a useful tip.
