Hi, Am rebuilding a 1980 A1 and after a long search have found a wiseco piston kit and have had it sleeved, my question is the original piston had a whole on the intake side and the wiseco has not. Is it necessary? thanks in advance.

It isn't required.
However, the hole does help with lubricating and cooling the wrist pin bearing and the under part of the dome.
For the KX500 it also is suppose to provide a tiny bit more HP.
If your piston does not have holes for the wrist pin lubrication I would put some there..

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
