frustrated..... cant find crankshaft for 1990 kx80
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:28:52 PM »
for the past month I've been trying to buy a crankshaft complete rebuild kit for a 1990 kx80 with no luck. I checked eBay and couldn't find it amazon no luck either. I was trying not to get it from the dealer directly to save me some money. I went on the kawasakiparts.com website and decided to order it since I couldn't find it cheaper. after making the payment and waiting for it to come in the mail I get an email few days later saying they are sorry and refunding my money since the manufacturer has discontinued the item. ????? now what??I have searched all the websites possible even went to wiseco directly and they don't have a crankshaft for 90' kx80.  I have no clue what I am to do now. the only thing that I honestly really need is to change the connecting rod big end bearing. but I figured id get the whole crankshaft. I wonder if the crankshaft is different for the 91' than the 90'. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance. here are some pix.

try sending Todd a PM...see if he'd be interested in rebuilding the crank for you...

other options are Wossner, Wiseco/Pro-X or Hot Rods...they all sell rod kits for your bike.

Wossner...
http://www.wossnerpistons.com/products/product-details/id/WOS-P2036/name/wossner-connecting-rod-kawasaki-kx-80

Wiseco...click the "crankshafts & connecting rods" tab...
http://www.wiseco.com/ProductSearch.aspx

Hot Rods...
http://www.hotrodsproducts.com/ProductSearch.aspx?page=1

it's always best to call these places when you order, to be sure you don't make a mistake at the keyboard...and end up with the wrong parts.

Thanks. So what i did today was go to the kawasaki dealership thats like 1 hr away. They were very helpful there and very knowledgeable about everything kawasaki. Kicking myself in the ass for not going there since the get go. They told me that kawasaki has discontinued to make that crankshaft but he looked at the crank and said that i will be good to go with just a rod kit i should have it back by fri next week and they charged me $200 which i think is a fair price. Ill update u when i get back into putting it back together.
