follow up jertting question for foxx4b.
« on: August 10, 2015, 04:29:56 PM »
the bike is running great now that i put a new bottom end in it. i have a feeling our (well your recommendations) and my jetting is d**n close. what i see on a brand new plug that i ran pretty hard for 3  15  minute rides is like a honey golden coating on the base of the plug that you can scratch off. is that a good or bad indication. youll tell me to plug chop and i will. but dies that sound close?
hell ,i,m so broke . if it cost a nickle to take a s**t, id have to puke.....

it doesn't look bad...I would've liked to of seen a much closer pic...but I'm not seeing much black oily residue, or a bright white insulator, which is good...
what is your current jetting?...and how many turns out is your air screw?

*edit*
you're running the N82R needle if I remember correctly, right?

yep an n82r in the 2nd clip with the air screw about 2 1/2 turns out. ill see if the other pic is closer up and ill post it. the bike is as responsive as the throttle turns. no lag or any thing. the pipe seems to get warmer on my leg than i remembered. but i dont know that it means anything. let me post that other pic.

go up one size richer on the pilot, that should get your air screw closer to 1 1/2 out.
it's on the leaner side, that's why you're feeling the heat on your leg more.
what size main jet are you running?

because it was 10mins til 5am this morning and I was in my normal rush, I forgot to add.....run this if you're not already!...it makes a big difference!

http://www.kxriders.com/forums/index.php/topic,15278.0.html

make sure you're running no lower than a 168 Main also...things tend to get rather "warm" if you're running wide open a lot with anything less than a 168....a 170 would be better if you're really planning on running wide open a lot....this is where plug chops really come into play...and you may even end up at a 172...try a 168 to start.

ok purple ice where do i find it? im gonna go yank my carb real quick and take a look at the main just to be sure of what im running. i think that it is a 168. so if im running a 52 pilot youre saying put the 55 in. (and / or )go 1 notch richer on the jet needle?

my local Kawie dealer had the Purple Ice....but you can get it on e-bay, amazon, etc, if your Kawie dealer doesn't carry it...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royal-Purple-01600-Purple-Ice-Radiator-Coolant-Additive-12-oz-Bottle-/361240509024?hash=item541b9cba60&vxp=mtr

see how it runs at low speeds with the 55 pilot and set the air screw(it should end up either side of 1 3/4 turns out)...if it doesn't start loading up or start feeling sluggish at really slow speeds, leave it with the 55.
leave the needle position where it is.
let me know what your main is.

no...just put in the 55 pilot, set the air screw, then do some slow trails or just putt around and see if it loads up any.
If it still seems like it's running pretty crisp...leave it.
you should notice that it doesn't/won't get quite as warm at slow speeds with the 55 also.

just so you know, it's best to make only one change at a time with jetting...otherwise you won't know which change made the difference if you do more than one change at a time...and it could get costly. :x
yup, let me know how it does...you're welcome.
