KX 250 PROBLEMS NEED HELP
« on: April 11, 2015, 06:57:27 PM »
I have a 2002 KX 250 2 Stroke that struggles to start, I dont believe it has been rebuilt for a while. The other day I started it first go at my home, loaded it on my trailer, got to the track, it started first go then I ran outta fuel. I filled it up and I couldnt get it to start at all after that even after kicking it over 50 times and push starting it. Anyone know what could the issue be or does it simply need a rebuild? On some of the kicks it sounds like the bike wants to start but just doesnt.  :-( :-o

you could try a new spark plug first, but I don't believe that's the problem,(though it's been known to happen).
sounds like your carburetor picked up some dirt/grain of sand, possibly when you ran it dry...and got stuck in one of your jets.
I'd pull the carb and give it a complete thorough cleaning....and I'd even pull the fuel tap off the tank and clean that really good too.
Keep us posted.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

Although I haven't had my KX very long I've been around motors for quite some time.

All need the ole, fuel, ignition, & compression.

You didn't list any troubleshooting you've done.

Is the plug wet? Is it getting spark? Next would be compression.

Any strange noises before she ran out of gas?

dinky,

Im currently pulling my bike apart now to check the carby and spark plugs, it seems recently I have lost a little compression in the kicker starter but theres still heaps there and nah it didnt make funny noises when it ran outta gas it just lost power and died

Does it burn a primer?  Did you try getting someone to tap the carb with a wooden hammer handle while kicking it over?  Did you get a spark tester and get someone to kick over your bike?  These are the first few things I do.

I buyed a Kx last Saturday that was in a Winter Sleep for over 5 Years. There was green Duckweed in the tank and carb.

I would remove the fuel pipe first to look if enouth fuel is coming.

After that clean the carb and blow out the jets.
