retro color debate
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:46:35 AM »
So it is retro week in SX, and just wondering what everyone's opinion on what Kawie retro colors are. Already asked my son and a member and all three of us have different takes on this. Oh yeah and Reed busted out the KX250 for opening ceremonies, pretty cool.
My rides: 1994 KX500, 1988 T4, 1998, ZXI 1100 JETSKI, 2003 MOUNTAIN CAT 900

Purple

But I consider those modern bikes. Not retro or vintage.   But that's another debate.

from what the other bikes have done in the past color and graphic schemes i thought reeds team was pretty bad throwback.
just bright green and a couple squigly lines of blue and black does not = retro.

Remember my dad bought me a brand new kx80 1989 so remember the colours well and the graffiti from the early 90:s...

I didn't like Reeds retro look, not a good attempt for the '93 look.
I think Martin had the best look with his '80s look YZF250...I would love to see Ya-mama-ha go production with that look, and finally drop the blue.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

I think reeds bikes looked good. Gotta remember that guy is draining his retirement just to own a supercross team, with his resources i think he did good. green frame and silver wheels would have been sweet however.

Also did it bother anyone else that A. they did not show any video from reed riding the 2 smoke and B. that reed was riding a 03+ kx for "90's" week?
The 2-smoke runs deep in this one...

yeah Reeds bike looked good but the only 90' thing about it was premix. All in all it was a weak ass attempt at "throwback"

I was talking more about the 450's. The premix in the 2fitty probably was no were near 90's either 60:1 with motul 800 or so on. not 32:1 caster lol

Anyway I say green n blue

those would be the correct colors for the '93...and that's what I'm seeing as well...

here is the '93...one of the best bikes I ever owned, and turned expert on in '94...

if you go to these places, you can scroll down til you see Reeds bike and then enlarge it by clicking on it, and then really enlarge it by double clicking on the pic, then you can click and drag it around...

the 93 had one of the best graphics and ergonomics too..  put a 2004 cylinder on it and a 48 kayaba front fork and the bike will be still good for competition

Motopunk you can get them from EVOMX & they are very good quality, I have a set on my bike & one of their seatcovers, good quality & not priced to bad, click on the link for the shroud decals:

The seat covers:

They also do a lot of stuff for other older bikes, the quality is way superior to stock.
