Wow Fox, that is one crazy story man. It sickening how some people can treat others! I am glad you recovered well after that kind of trauma. It must have been horrific.

(It's good to put a face to the name btw.)

I also had a "friend" do me in one day after going to school "in a bad mood". His bad mood set me back 5 broken teeth and a cracked nose. You don't see things like that coming from a guy you grew up with and considered a friend. I couldn't get a decent amount out of him to cover the bills but at least the dentist at the time did a great job of the temp caps.

It must have been horrific.

Ed

the worst part of the whole thing was the intense headaches the 1st week while I was in the hospital.
I would've taken the worst hang-over headache over the ones I had any day!

when I hear someone say, "I have severe headache"...I just sigh and roll my eyes.
no one's experienced a "severe headache" until they've had a cracked skull.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

I'll summarize

https://youtu.be/wQynViAF6Ds

I keep telling the wife this, tube that is

The sugar limiting ideas a good call. I drink 1 12 oz pop a day during the work week, more for the caffeine than anything. I weighed 165 all through high school, now I'm like 165-170 varies, so it's not like I'm some big fatty though, more like the Laotian hot dog eating champion physique

My job I think is a fair bit of the worn out thing. Lifting 125# cummins heads, rolling the blocks 6 times per block to clean gasket surfaces, squats to the knees on cement for every piston that goes in a motor = repetitive motion kinda thing. To stupid to get a hand when needed. Appreciate the input, ugh water yum  :-D

Embrace old age, many don't get to.
Getting old is not for sissies.

It took rupturing my patella tendon at 47 years old to slow me down.
The main thing is don't stop doing things.  Don't get lazy.
None of my old riding buddies ride any more.
One of my friends I've know for 30 years talks about how mowing
the lawn all most kills him and he owns a riding lawn mower.
The guys I ride with are all in their late 30's/early 40's.
They had no clue how old I was.  About 6 years ago we
were sitting around the camp fire and started talking about
the first bikes we had.  I knew every bike they mentioned.
When I said my first bike was a step-thru Honda 90 they had
no idea what I was talking about.  What year did they make that
bike?  1969.  What year did you own it?  1971. It was called a CT90.
One of them said "I wasn't even born until 1982 how old are you"?
51.  The oldest said "I thought you were somewhere near my age".
He was 38.
At almost 58 my biggest issue is weight.
I'm about 40 pounds over weight.
It's a real struggle because I love good food.
I try to stay away from pop, Mt. Dews are so good.
I  used to drink  3/4 pops a day.  Since March 1st
I've had 3 pops.  I'm down about 7 pounds.

To recap,
Don't be lazy.  Don't watch TV laying down.
If you can't watch sitting up turn it off and go to bed.
Eat less meat, more of a plant based diet.  Cut the sugar.
Do some kind of exercise/hard work every other day.
You don't need the cool gym membership or the bad ass
work out equipment.  Calisthenics and a jump rope will
take you anywhere you want to go with your body.

My dad's doctor always tells him that as you get older it's not what you do that kills you, it's what you stop doing.  Stay active and consider the couch your mortal enemy.   :-D
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

Sadly, I don't take my own advice all the time. That's what I'm doing too. I did run some stairs, so maybe I should have an extra taco to offset it.   :-D

I'm glad I quit smoking but f**k it still calls to me. They mail those cigar store flyers & grow your own tobacco seed catalogs that's all I need. 15 years quit & still an addict, only drug I still miss.

I couldn't do that breakfast, I'd be qwebbing like tweaker & sick as a dog. It's multigrain cereal for breakfast or I'm not good, I can't even do bacon & eggs till lunch.

Give me chips & salsa to go with that beer though & you'd be sorry you ever showed me that artisan creation. Nice

Well yet another late reply but Im 53 have had multiple broken bones fractured hip 2 herniated disks, 2 hernias, high bp, I eat pretty much what ever I want but will not eat "fast food" I smoke and enjoy a cold beer with an occasional single malt tossed in for good measure. Yet I still wear the same size pants as in high school . One of my favorite statements is , "You dont quit riding because you get old, You get old because you quit riding" . Stay active stretching is definately a prerequiste.

well im 42 years old now. ive done pretty much opposite of how i have been told i should do them since i can remember. which doesnt really say too much when for the most part if it happened beyond 5 minutes ago, then i couldnt tell you anyway. but, seriously for me i have to say there is one pain i have from an injury i didnt get the treatment for that i should have i regret not having done so. i had my right arm pulled through a sheet rock bundling machine when i was 20 and i would say i broke my wrist and the back of my hand. i dealt with it because i needed the job and was sure i would lose the job if i reported it.  now  i wake up and my hand is frequently numb. worse than that though is its my throttle hand. i take it as long as i can when im out on my bike, frequently have to let off and shake my right arm until the sensation comes back into  it. its a painful M'er F'er when it does ...but ill never give up the ride...
hell ,i,m so broke . if it cost a nickle to take a s**t, id have to puke.....
