I gotta ask though, did the cracked skull involve a frying pan? No really though I'd be interested in the entirety of that story.
haha...that was funny!...as I know 2 people that've been massaged with a cast iron pan before...
I was working for a buddy I grew up with since 1st grade building a house just outside of Boston...it was my 3rd day working on his crew. It was at the end of the day on Friday Nov 19th '99, about 2:45pm...I had been busy all afternoon framing the 1st floor exterior walls. At some point during the day, someone had cut out the plywood that covered the stairwell hole to the cellar, then just threw a full sheet of 1/2" plywood over the hole...WITHOUT nailing it down, or writing CAUTION or DANGER on it. The buddy who I've known for so long, asked me to brace up the walls for the weekend whist he and the other guys wrapped up the tools. Well, that piece of plywood was in my way, so I went over to it, and stood it up the 4ft way...and just as I started to step towards it...down I went...head 1st onto concrete. The amount of blood that dumped outa my nose for about 4 seconds was horrifying!. I didn't know it at the time, but that blood was from a brain hemorrhage. So after sitting there for about 15mins, and everyone asking me if I was ok....I said let's get the F outa here and go home...which ended up being a 2 1/2 hour ride in bumper to bumper Boston traffic. I knew something was really wrong whilst sitting in the passenger seat...but I just wanted to get home.
I had my buddy drop me off at the local hospital here in Plymouth...they brought me right in, and did all kinds of MRI's, then I found out I cracked my skull. The hospital called my folks who were just getting ready to eat dinner, and told my mother it was the hospital calling, and that your son has just been admitted with a severe head injury, and he has a 50/50 chance of making it. I still had no idea of the severity of my injury at that point...all I knew was that my head hurt really bad. Once my parents got there, the doctors revealed the brain hemorrhage/cracked skull. After the 2nd day, I noticed my entire face was turning really dark purple, almost black especially around my eyes. Come to find out, that was because the bleeding from my brain had released pressure around my eye sockets...and that's what doctors said saved my life. They said if that pressure hadn't released...I more than likely would've died at the job site.
Then the biggest kick in the nuts....was a few days later, whilst I was laying in the ICU...my buddy showed up...to tell me he wasn't gonna let his insurance cover it. So I got a family attorney to call him to find out what was going on, why he was saying he wasn't gonna cover it....his response..."never worked for me, I never paid him". So my lawyer says "I thought you guys were friends?"....his response...."we are friends"....my lawyer then asks him, "what kinda friend leaves another friend for near death, with $50K in medical bills?"...his response..."oh well".
I think that hurt more....knowing that it took something like that to find out who a friend really was.
But in the end, I did sue him...and won a pretty decent amount after 7 years of battling.
whew...was that enough detail?
