Need a kick start lever
« on: November 06, 2014, 12:52:52 AM »
Hi All,

Does anyone know what other year kick start lever assembly will fit an 87 KX 250?

The aluminum kick lever after 27 years has a bit a play...

dinky,

Lick starting is very unsanitary.

By parts numbers the lever, boss, and shaft are all single year fitment for 87 only .... It's hard to believe that is really the case..
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I'm wondering if the shaft splines are the same though out the years.....but the boss is slightly different.

I checked out the kick boss on other KX 250 years and all they "seems" to be the same diameter...

dinky,

the kx250 kickstart shafts are all similar 82-2008 ... same splines, and the change from the nut to a bolt for fixing the lever ...

i have an brandnew 2002 oem kickstartlever on my 87 kx250 and i had it also on my 83 kx250 for a short time.  2003-2008 has a diferent bending, because of the lower frame, but will also work well to the older years..  8-)

My 86 is sloppy also. I do have a herd of 03-07 KX250s in the garage so I might have to borrow one off of one of them! Just not my wifes!

So I finally bought a kick start lever to replace mine using all your advice.

And if anyone is interested or wondering, the one I order was for a 94-01 KX250, and it fit my 87 KX250 perfectly.

thanks again everyone,
dinky,
