my rebuild 08' kx450/95 kx500
« on: October 16, 2014, 12:57:01 AM »
I took this bike down to nuts and bolts, welded motor spacer in, filled unneeded holes, fixed broken bolt on chain adjuster, custom made a clamp for the cdi box, refitted the kx450 rads with dual cores and modified the nipples, powder coated the frame white, bought 2 sets of 09' hoses to plumb everything cleanly, replaced EVERY bearing on the chassis wheels and motor, rebuilt the motor top and bottom with a Gorr mobetter port job, added a 40mm lectron carb, a 14oz fly wheel weight, new stock bits, new aftermarket plastic including the 13' front fender and cycra stadium plate, and tm designs chain slide and guide kit with caliper guard!
It currently has a SH pipe and silencer but I have a DEP CR 500 pipe and am waiting on the silencer to fit that set up, I have a new seat cover and a new graphics kit on its way! Pics to come when I figure out how lol!

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Anyone want to give me a value on this bike? Just wondering what it might be worth and if I spent to much fixing it all up??

08'450 with 95' kx500 completely built top to bottom by forward motion with lower comp. And mobetter porting. Most every part new on remainder of bike. Having suspension rebuilt, sprung and valved in two weeks.

Value???
It all depends on how good the finished product is and who is interested in buying it as well as how you market it.
What do they sell for in your area?

huh...I've got either side of $18K in my regular chassis K5 over the past 3 years...with every receipt to prove it...but, I'd be LUCKY to get $5K for it, just because no one wants to pay that much for a bike that's technically 19-20 years old.
I can never sell it at this point, not without taking a major beating....not that I have any interest or plans on selling it anywho 8-)

There's several AF's on e-bay periodically...and they're asking between $6K-$8K...whether they're actually selling for that price, I don't know.

Thanks guys, yes it is ridable. I took it for a spin last Saturday just to see what would shake off the beast, luckily everything stayed on lol. It runs awesome just pure 2 stroke bliss! No hit just smooth power bottom to top! Will be even more enjoyable when the suspension is done!
I have a buddy lending me a kx450 rekluse exp to test fit and see if it will work/fit in the 500. If that trail dead ends I'll probably mill the cover and install and EFM auto clutch!
