06 kx 250 triple clamp question !
« on: October 07, 2014, 12:17:58 PM »
hey guys I'm brand new to the forum and to the Kawasaki world ... I just bought a used 06 kx 250 and found out the triple clamp are twisted a bit, bad enough that I cant tweak them to achieve a straight alignment with the forks :x

I've looked around for a used set of triples but cant seem to find any for the 2-stroke kx .... lots of kxf ones tough

my question is will some years kxf 250 or 450 triple clamp fit on my 06KX250 using my stock forks?? and if so what years would work ?

thanks a bunch guys !

What is the diameter of the upper fork clamping area? 56mm?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I have never tried it but the 04-05 kx250F have the same clamping diameter.

So, unless my calipers are off, the forks on my 450f and 500 have a upper fork diameter of 2.120" or 53.4mm.  Top clamp should work, with the bottom clamp not sure.  All of the offsets maybe different.
The clamp sets are cheap enough its worth giving it a shot.

thx for the replies guys!

I checked the part numbers from a 2006 KX250 and a 2006 KX250F and they're close but not the same lol

upper mount for KX is 44039-0017-D3 and KX250F is 44039-0034-D3

lower mount for KX is 44037-0031-D3 and KX250F is 44037-0034-D3

they are also the exact same price for both of them !! so im thinking they might work but might have different offset witch is ok with me and I read somewhere's that maybe I would have to weld some tab on my frame for the clamps stoppers to work !!... again not a problem since I am a journeyman welder

i'm worried about my front number plate and front fender being able to fit in the KXF clamp also but that's another story haha

fender will, number plate will if the bolt placement is the same, front or on top.

just an update .. i did fix them by twisting them back till they were straight ... figured i couldnt break something that was already broken lol... i machined some pipes to put in one side of the clamp and tighten the bolts and then in the vise ... the put a long pipe in the other side of the clamp and simply untwisted t them

put it all back together and they line up perfectly :)

The repair might be just fine but in the back of my mind I would be thinking....

Now is the time to get another set ,by my memory kx250 06 had 25mm offset clamps , so using a set off  a late kxf should be 23.5 mm or go aftermarket , could be rg3 were down to 21.5mm which will give you more trail , which this model does not have much off 105mm to be exact, this will help stop the front tyre from stepping out half way around a corner on flat slippery corners the stock one are known to do , if you need any other advice on these bikes , drop us a line , as we have one that get different mods done to it all the time , and still get raced to this day against the new bikes. WE are always looking for improvements for these models just to keep the ktm and yamy guys humble.
