Rear brake screwed
« on: August 30, 2014, 07:45:30 PM »
This is the rear hub from my 85 125.  The previous owner has ran the bike without any brake shoes so the cam was grinding into the hub how do i go fixing this or is it rubbish.

Thanx  Ben

it might be easiest to try and find another hub, unless you can find a good machine shop that could repair it.
it would be cool if you could find an 86 swing arm and convert to a rear disc...but, 86 was the transition year where Kawie completely changed the rear suspension...so it wouldn't be very cost effective, and a lot of work.
there are some "wheel" guys on here...maybe one of em will chime in, maybe there's some other years that will work, or an aftermarket place that makes replacement hubs for the 85.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

well after doing a little research, I found out that the 86, 87, 88 KDX200's shared the same rear hub as your 85 KX....only difference is the KDX hubs are silver, not black like the KX.
the other problem, is none of them are available from Kawie anymore...and there is nothing on e-bay at the moment.
I'd check e-bay everyday, something's bound to turn up.

Even though the 85 KX250 and KX500 rear hubs have a different part number then the 85 kx125 I think they are relatively the same.
I know for sure that the 250 and 500 hubs have 20mm rear axles and are about 130mm from the outside to the outside of the bearings, just like your 125  8-)

the 41034-1157 replaces all the old/other part numbers for the 85 KX125, and for the 86,87,88 KDX200...at least that's how Kawie has it listed now.

Weird.
The 86-88 kdx200 rear hubs are narrower then the 85 kx125..

This was the other bike at one stage I was going to use it as a parts bike but we spent too much now to go back

yeah it is weird...especially if they're narrower....but did you see what I was talking about?, I use the OEM parts finder off Rocky Mountain...unless Kawie has made a mistake.
