MZB
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

So on the problems on hand. Reeds. I want mid to top end reeds for the k5 any opinions on the best ones. Also should I go just pedals or full cage and pedals? Mostly gonna be used for sandy trail desert riding. Some dunes but I will change gearing when I go there

Don't know anything about them but they have a new boot for 45.44 plus shipping.

On the reed I would use a V-Force 2 but I'm prejudiced...

If you look on eBay there is only one VF2 for sale and it's more expensive then buying direct from me.
You'll find the VF3s by the dozen but you won't get the top end response from them that you will from the VF2.
Everything adds up when you are trying to get more top end.
You need a fresh motor, pipe, reed, and correctly jetted carb just for a start.
If you want to get the most from the VF2 read this over
