discontinued head studs?
« on: January 13, 2014, 01:40:48 PM »
Hello guys,
I am currently redoing an 88 kx500 and am looking for some new cylinder head studs.
But im having a bit of a struggle. Rocky mountain, and motosport cant get them, does anyone know where I can get these?
I haven't tried my local dealer yet, but I got a feeling that will be a dud as well.
thanks in advance
Brent

The 88 used 3 different stud lengths... 35 40 and 45mm..
The 40 and 45mm studs are discontinued.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Not everyone has all the fancy toys I mean tools you do Motorrad :P

Having the dimensions does make it easier. I wonder if any other bikes have something almost the same length? Maybe even a different brand bike? Maybe take the old ones to a machine shop and they can make some new ones? Just throwing out other options/ideas.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

Mine has 9 total. The two up front are available. But the 7 that circle the combustion chamber step down in size. From like 10mm to 8mm.
These are the ones that are not available
I tried to post a picture from my iPhone but I don't see an option on here to post an image.

wasnt it an upgrade back in the day to drill out the head to take the bigger latter studs?

That's what I was wondering, if someone had done this on their own.
Someone told me that quadzilla cylinder head studs are similar.

Thank you guys very much for the replies,
for future reference , bike bandit has the studs in stock. I discovered this after I ordered the ones from lathe dog on the eBay.  I hope they work.
