Exhaust valve rail spacer,will a B.B work?
« on: April 02, 2013, 03:09:40 PM »
Another Dumb Question, For The Over Closing Valves Mod, It Says To Use A Ball Bearing, But I Cannot FinD One. I Did Find A  B.B. That Is Perfect Size. It Is Made Of Zinc Coated Steel. Will The B.B Be Tough Enough To Take The Pounding Of The Exhaust Rail Hitting It all The Time?  Thoughts? ThankYou.
When in doubt, throttle out!

No question is a dumb question. I would think it would be just fine, but not 100% sure. I'm sure someone that really knows will chime in.  You can buy a bolt on here that's the extra length. Kawrider made them. Although he hasn't been on the site for a long time so maybe someone else here makes em?

problem solved. I used a bolt from NAPA that fit perfectly. It was an oil drain plug for a car.

to answer your original question, a bb would probably work. I did this years ago with a ball from one of the smaal bearings on the Kips governor, it is captive so can't go anywhere.

absolutely easy to make, he'd asked about the bb and I related my story, I think he said he found an oil drain plug that was configured correctly, that would be interesting, for those without a lathe to be able to run down to NAPA and buy this drain plug, everybody has a NAPA

Chuck Norris one stood trial for a crime and the judge refered to him as "Your Honor" instead of "The Defendant".......Then Chuck sentenced the judge to 100 hours of community service. 8-)
